Just after earning 1 million followers on Vine, Logan Paul, a freshman studying industrial and systems engineering, decided to spread the wealth, as he called out Athens to create a “supervine.”
At 4 p.m., accompanied by his family, including his brother Jake, he gathered a group of more than 40 people on South Green to create four separate Vines, including a rap battle and a shout out to his fans for getting him 1 million followers.
“Ohio University is a really supportive and great group of people, and I wanted to support my brother,” said Jake Paul.
Rufus and a man in a hazmat suit were among the most distinguishable guests at the event. In addition to the students at OU, there were also several students from Athens High School in attendance.
“It was fun and he is really funny,” said Naomi Oberg, a student at Athens High School.
Though not everyone knew what they were getting into, they all seemed to agree that it was a fun and engaging shoot.
“I didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be a cool experience,” said Brian Lenox, a junior studying political science.
Logan Paul has been quickly gaining fame on the Internet, and he has no plans to stop anytime soon.
“It’s crazy how many people are attached to the Vine,” said Jake Paul. “My brother is such a talented and great guy, and it’s cool that this many people can come out and support this.”
Whenever people were asked why they came, there seemed to be one defining answer.
“I wanted to be on one of his Vines,” said Jen Epling, a senior studying marketing.
