Every day this month, United Campus Ministry and three Athens Buddhist groups will hold an Interfaith Sit for Peace.
The public is invited to the UCM first floor lounge, 18 N. College St., from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. each day to join others in silent meditation.
The idea is to promote peace one person at a time
from the inside out said Evan Young, the spiritual director of UCM.
The event is co-sponsored by UCM, Athens Zen Center, the Tibetan Buddhist Study Group and the Athens Center for Mindfulness Practice. It is open to those of all faiths and beliefs.
There is a universal concern for peace Young said. This gives people an opportunity to express that with people that they would not normally be with.
