A man who reportedly left his infant son in a car for several hours before the infant died of dehydration resigned from the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau yesterday.
The Athens County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Jeffrey Winkenwerder at their regular meeting yesterday.
The Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau is the board of trustees for tourism in the county. Winkenwerder was also an employee of the Ohio University Inn and Convention Center, said Mark Sullivan, an Athens County Commissioner.
Julie Cashin, the general manager of the University Inn, will replace Winkenwerder on the board.
