Ohio University has hired Baker and Associates, a national search firm, to help find a new vice president for Finance and Administration.
Baker and Associates worked on last year's search for a new executive vice president and provost and will be working with a university search committee to find a replacement for Bill Decatur, who is leaving OU for the Rhode Island School of Design in January.
OU President Roderick McDavis said he hopes to fill the position by the beginning of next academic year. In the mean time, he has appointed Associate Vice President for Finance Mike Angelini to be the interim head of Finance and Administration.
The transition from Decatur's leadership to Angelini has gone smoothly
said Rebecca Vazquez-Skillings, OU's assistant vice president for Budget Planning and Analysis, adding that Finance and Administration has a lot of bench strength which helps ease the transition.
She said it is on the shoulders of everyone in the department to be ready for the transition and the new vice president.
We need to make sure we are in the position to receive someone new she said.
The search committee, which is lead by Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit and will recommend finalists to the president, meets for the first time next week to start formulating a timeline for the search, as well as working on the job description for the position.
Baker and Associates will earn a percentage of the final negotiated salary for the new hire, and OU's contract with the firm estimates that amount around $60,000. Decatur, one of OU's highest paid administrators, made $245,725 a year.
