Man dies after backing Jeep over embankment

An Athens man was killed Saturday night in a car accident on County Road 89 — and one unharmed passenger was a faculty and staff member of Ohio University.

Justin R. Robinson, 32, died Saturday at about 9:50 p.m., after backing his 1995 Jeep Wrangler across County Road 89 and failing to stop prior to exiting the roadway. He overturned over an embankment and was partially ejected from the car, according to an Ohio Highway Patrol news release.

Robinson died at the scene and was taken to Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, according to the release.

Of the three other passengers in the car, one was injured and two were unharmed, according to the release.

Theresa L. Jordan, 29, of Athens, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Athens County Emergency Medical Service took her to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, according to the release.

Rochelle A. Bolin, 20, and Jarrod L. Gray, 19, both of Albany, were not injured, according to the release.

Bolin is listed as a member of Ohio University’s faculty and staff, according to the directory.

All four passengers were not wearing seat belts, according to the release.  

County Road 89 was closed for about an hour after the accident, according to the release.
