Post Letter: Alumnus eager to hear results of 'real' OU-OSU battle

I am an alumnus from Camp OU and actually graduated in 1981. Back in these good old days

the football team had a remarkable record of losing everything they touched. That was in the middle of the much-hallowed tradition of going to the football games just to watch the Marching 110 and counting down the number of weeks or months that the football coach had left before he was fired. The Marching 110 always put on one helluva show and trounced any opposing bands that dared to go up against them.

But the lingering question always was, when could they show up that other band from Columbus that was famous because they could play follow the leader and spell Ohio correctly most of the time? When could the 110, with only 110 members at that time, finally get the recognition they deserved and go head to head against the 275 prancing Buckeyes? In my day, the closest thing was the Columbus Day parade, which those other guys did not show up for, in their own parade in their own city.

Well, it finally happened last Saturday and was televised in HD all across the country. BUT... ESPN, true to their short-sighted nature, never showed anything of the REAL battle of the 110 vs. the prancing Buckeyes.
