The Pita Pit, 8 N. Court St., shut down a week ago but is expected to reopen Feb. 6 after undergoing changes in management.
The Uptown Pita Pit has been privately owned since it opened almost nine years ago, but a joint decision between the restaurant's owner and corporate office is transferring management from the franchisee to the corporate team.
The Athens Pita Pit is very important to our growth strategy
said Chris Edwards, the restaurant's corporate store manager. Our team would like to run it corporately to ensure the operation is tip top.
But the management change is not permanent, Edwards said, adding that the new arrangement could last as little as 30 days or as long as 24 months.
Former employees of the Uptown Pita Pit will have the opportunity to reapply for positions when the restaurant reopens, Edwards said.
