A female Hocking College student was arrested yesterday morning after threatening her boyfriend with a butcher knife, according to a preliminary Athens Police Department report.
At about 3 a.m. Sunday, Athens Police Department officers found 21-year-old Megan Machado harassing her boyfriend with a butcher knife in the living room of his North Lancaster Street home, Lt. Ralph Harvey said.
Her boyfriend and his roommate had called 911 from a blocked-off bedroom around 2:30 a.m., according to the preliminary police report.
Police determined he had been assaulted repeatedly earlier that evening as well, suffering undisclosed injuries, according to the preliminary police report.
Machado was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and assault, according to the report.
Her boyfriend's name and whether he is an Ohio University student have not yet been added to the police department's records, Harvey said. No police reports were completed by the end of the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. police shift, according to Lt. Anthony L. Fish's preliminary media release.
Machado posted bail of $1,000 and was released from the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail yesterday morning, according to records on the jail Web site.
