Laughter is like a good party — the more the merrier and the local comedy group Blue Pencil has truly made it a goal of theirs to create more giggles than ever before.
With more funding and shows this year the troupe is yet again creating another new event starting this Friday night at Gigi’s Bubble Tea called The Corridor.
“When I first came to campus the comedy scene was not as prominent but now it’s every where and being at the forefront is just very exciting,” Brandon Ivey, the show’s host, said.
The Corridor will be unlike any other comedy night on campus. It will only contain Athens’ most elite comedians, hand picked by Ivey himself.
“We wanted to have a show that mimics the way a more professional comedy club works,” Ivey said. “The comedians that are going to be in these shows have to prove themselves. They have to be in the other events around campus in order to let me see what they are really like. It is nothing like Open Mic at Front Room or even at Jackie O’s.”
There will also be a wide range of comedy from stand-up to experimental including improv, poetry, and even comedic music.
“The show will be mainly stand-up but we wanted to incorporate other types of comedy that is going on around campus,” Ivey said.
“The audience can expect a high level of comedy. I want the show to be as good as possible and if you come you are more than definitely going to have a good time,” Ivey said.
