Various off-campus streets as well as all of the dorms on Ohio University's West Green have been placed on a boil alert until tomorrow morning.
The alert, which includes Station St., Factory St., Depot St., and Riverside Drive as well as West Green, was called at 11 a.m. today and expires at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
The boil order was issued because a water line burst last night near the OU Refuel Station behind The Convo.
Basically
a part of the waterline blew out so there is a boil order while we put in a new one said Scott Lambert, Athens' sewer supervisor.
Athens will conduct contamination tests on the area's water to determine if any bacteria is in the water line.
The chances are very slim that there actually is any bacteria in the water Lambert said.
Residents are instructed to call the boil order hotline at 740-594-5078 for more information on this boil order.
