Not quite suspicious
Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded near Millfield after reports of a suspicious individual. Deputies on the scene were able to make contact with the man, who said he was riding his bike to his father’s house. After it was determined that nothing criminal had taken place, deputies resumed patrol.
Car accident
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Vore Ridge Road after a car went into a ditch. The driver was unharmed and there was no damage to the car. A towing company arrived on the scene to get the car out of the ditch. Deputies remained on scene until the car was back on the road.
Saturday, Sept. 12
Just hanging out
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Glouster after reports of a suspicious vehicle in a lot. Deputies made contact with an individual in the car who said they were waiting for a friend. It was determined that no criminal activity had occurred and the car was not there overnight.
Theft
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Amesville after reports of a theft. Two individuals told deputies that their neighbor had taken a package that was meant for them. They were able to get the package back, but wanted the incident documented in case a similar incident occurred later on. The incident was documented and patrol resumed.
Sunday, Sept. 13
Aggressive dog
Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Mine Road in Carbondale after reports of an aggressive dog running around the area. The caller told deputies that they didn’t know where the dog had run off to. Deputies also told the callers to contact the dog shelter due to the dog being a continual issue.

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Lexington Avenue in Chauncey after a report of someone being locked out of their residence. Deputies on the scene were able to assist and get the residence unlocked.
Monday, Sept. 14
Warrants of the week
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office has warrants of arrest out for Rayheim Williams and Sadina Shahan. Shahan is wanted for cruelty to companion animals. Williams is wanted for receiving stolen property and failure to comply. Anyone with information on either individual is to contact the sheriff’s office immediately.
Kids crashing cars
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Athens High School after reports of a traffic accident. Deputies spoke with a student who said another student had hit their car and left the scene. Deputies were not able to make contact with the other student. A report was taken and deputies took photographs of the evidence. At the time the media report was released, the case was still under investigation.
Tuesday, Sept. 15
Arrested
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and the Athens Police Department responded to the Carpenter Hall apartments in Athens to locate Ray Eblin Jr. Eblin had a felony warrant out for his arrest, and when deputies and the APD responded to the apartments, he was located walking down the hallway. He was arrested and taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
More goat issues
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Vore Ridge Road after a caller reported an instance of five goats on their property. Deputies made contact with the owners of the goats and cited them for animals at large.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
This little piggy went to someone else’s yard
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Thompson Ridge Road after the caller informed deputies there was a pig on their property. Deputies were able to make contact with the pig’s owner, who said she would pick up the pig and keep it on her property. Deputies also told the pig’s owner that if the pig got loose again, she could be cited with animals at large.
Reported assault
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Perry Ridge Road after reports of an assault. Deputies on the scene spoke with witnesses and took statements. Deputies were not able to find the suspect and patrol resumed.
