Two North Congress Street houses were broken into early Thursday morning with furniture left overturned.
Residents of 69 N. Congress St. said that they heard noises coming from downstairs around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. One resident saw five white males leave the house, according to an Athens Police Department news release. -

In the duplex across the street, at 74 and 76 N. Congress St., furniture was tipped over that night as well. Furniture and a refrigerator were tipped over in an unspecified third house the next day, according to the release.
The males had gained access to the home on 69 N. Congress St. by cutting through the window screen and opening the window, according to the release.-
