Ohio University named an interim executive director of University Communications and Marketing on Monday.
Gina Calcamuggio, former senior director of marketing communications, was appointed to the position following Joe Brennan's resignation, effective last Friday.
Brennan resigned to become associate vice president of university communications at his alma mater, the State University of New York in Buffalo.
Calcamuggio, who headed the Promise marketing campaign, said she wasn't interested in the permanent position. The Promise campaign appeared on the Internet, in print, on television and on billboards throughout five states, according to a university news release.
Honestly
I love the job I'm doing now she said. My work with the 'Promise' campaign was very rewarding both professionally and personally.
A search committee to find a permanent replacement is being formed. The committee is in its preliminary stages and members have not yet been determined, said Brice Bible, Chief Information Officer and chair of the search committee.
(The search committee) intends to move very quickly on filling the position; the proposals are already out for a search firm
said Sally Linder, senior director of media relations, adding that Calcamuggio will continue earning her current annual salary of $80,600 with a monthly supplement of $1,200 while she holds the interim position.
Calcamuggio is a 1992 graduate of OU's Honors Tutorial College and took the position of senior director of marketing communications in 2006.
I think (Calcamuggio) is a great choice to provide leadership in the interim; she's had a lot of experience in the various aspects the office is involved in
Linder said. I think she'll provide great continuity.Communications and Marketing, part of the Office of The President, handles media relations for the university along with distributing its own publications, according to a university news release.
