Jason Preston ingrained his story into the floorboards of The Convo with three years of excellence. In 82 games with Ohio, Preston earned two All-Mid-American Conference selections, a MAC Tournament MVP and has his name all over Ohio’s record book. However, Preston’s passion for basketball extends far beyond the court.

Although most consider February a time for romantic partners, Ohio University students prepared for the weekend of Feb. 7-9 by setting up air mattresses and planning a weekend of quality sibling bonding time. This past weekend was Sibs Weekend at OU when the university opened its gates to siblings of current Bobcats.

Ohio defeated rival Liberty in a 5-2 physical matchup to open the second of three series this season. Liberty came to Athens looking for some getback after the Bobcats swept the Flames in Lynchburg in early November. Though Ohio came into the game after a 7-6 loss to Niagara, and Liberty came in on a four-game heater, Coach Berry Schutte wasn’t stressed.

Ohio assistant coach Abby Garnett isn’t too far removed from lighting up The Convo between the sidelines; Garnett was a forward for Ohio until 2023. Now, only a year after retiring from playing basketball, Garnett fills a role from just outside the sidelines for Ohio.

President Donald Trump was inaugurated Jan. 20 as the 47th president of the United States. For many Americans, this was a day of shared loss and national frustration. On Inauguration Day, climate change mitigation group Sunrise Movement Athens hosted a meeting to offer a healing space, organized by co-Presidents Maeve Fellerhoff and Celia Hawk.

Ohio (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) will perform in its final home duel of the season against Kent State (1-12, 0-5 MAC) Friday in a battle for the annual Grudge Match. Last season, the Bobcats managed to win big against the Golden Flashes, 34-15. Not since the 2020-21 season has Kent State beaten Ohio.

The Princeton Review ranked Ohio University as Ohio's top Green School in 2025, due to the university's sustainability and environmental efforts. OU was the only school in Ohio to be ranked in the top 50 list of green universities. Director of Sustainability, Sam Crowl, says this behavior is infused into everything that's done in Athens and at OU.
