The Outdoor Recreation Council of Appalachia, or ORCA, announced a plan last year to build 88 new miles of trails in Bailey’s Trail System. As of today, 58 of the 88 miles have been completed.

Through sheer dominance, Athens won against River Valley at home, 58-0. The game was decided in the first quarter, but the home team still played its tail off like this was the only game they had a chance at winning.

Ohio (5-8, 2-3 in Mid-American Conference) hosts Kent State (3-10, 2-2 MAC) Sunday and looks to bounce back after getting shut out by Penn State 5-0. The Bobcats look to bring back their offensive aggressiveness against Bellarmine last Friday where they won 3-1 and outshot the Knights 16-6.

Despite the many exciting and wonderful aspects of university life, college campuses have long been hot spots for assault, muggings and other similar crimes. An ADT and the Clery Center survey reported more than 82% of college students are concerned for their personal safety on campus, whether it’s “being in an unfamiliar area, interacting with strangers, walking home in the dark or leaving a bar/party alone.”

Playboy Magazine ranked Ohio University as the top party school in the U.S. in 2015. At the time, the Halloween Block Party was one of the country’s largest, according to USA Today, even being sponsored by the well-known, and in some ways infamous, alcoholic beverage Four Loko. Although that has changed, Athens is still home to over 20 bars, one of the reasons for OU’s #1 spot.

A new chapter will be written in the historic rivalry between Ohio and Miami Saturday at Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio. It will be the 100th meeting on the football field between the two schools, marking a huge milestone in a storied matchup.

Ohio University organized a campus-wide donation drive for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. The drive took donations from Oct. 4-11 and specifically aimed to help those in Tennessee and North Carolina.

In its first three weekends of Mid-American Conference play, Ohio (7-10, 3-3 MAC) has gone 1-1, splitting against Akron and Toledo, losing against Western Michigan, and most recently winning against Northern Illinois. If Ohio hopes to make it to the MAC Tournament this trend cannot continue because Ohio would be the first team out if the season ends today.

According to a previous Post report, Athens has recently shown an uptick in stray animals. Just last year, the Athens Humane Society picked up 250 strays without a shelter.

Ohio (9-1-4 overall, 4-0-3 Mid-American Conference) hosts Toledo (5-6-3 overall, 2-3-2 MAC) Thursday and looks to continue its three-game winning streak. This winning streak is the team's longest since winning four consecutive games leading up to conference play, the start of an eleven-game lossless streak for Ohio.

Bailey’s Trail System hosted its second annual Dirt Fondo and Fundraiser Saturday at the Chauncey-Dover Trailhead in Millfield. The event brought in local businesses to showcase their products on and off the trails.

Although The Post is independent, it would not be able to exist in the capacity it does without the support, guidance and education provided by the faculty of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
