Currently, only 23 states do not have foreign language requirements to be admitted. In addition to the requirements to be admitted into a university, many colleges also require foreign language classes to be taken for graduation.

In the U.S., alcohol is a big part of society. Currently, 61% of Americans aged 21 and older say that they drink alcohol. Because the consumption of alcohol is considered such a normal event, alcoholism and high-risk drinking has become a major problem. Over 15 million Americans struggle with an alcohol use disorder.

The number of people that own animals in the United States is up and growing everyday. According to the 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey, “about 85 million American families (or 67%) own some kind of pet.” Due to a high demand for pets, the pet and pet care industry has become a huge market. In 2021, the market was worth 232 billion dollars, and it is estimated to have a 6.1% compounded annual growth rate. Unfortunately, people take advantage of this market and sacrifice safe and ethical breeding of animals to continue earning profit. Most of these animals end up being sold in pet stores around the U.S.

Sorority and fraternity life has become a major part of the college experience. With over 750,000 members and around 9 million alumni, Greek life continues to thrive at colleges around the United States. Membership varies around the U.S., depending on the region that the college resides in. Southern schools often have a higher percentage of students in sororities and fraternities and a more competitive recruitment process.

College tuition rates continue to skyrocket while acceptance rates plummet, and new college graduates are faced with a competitive job market and lower paying salaries.
