Our third installment of Throwback Thursday is a photo that accompanied an article from 2002 about the Internet's effect on Athens music vendors. In the photo, credited to staff photographer Jake Krosky, we see a student buying a CD at Schoolkids Music & Clothing. The shop is now called Schoolkids Costume Shop, and it still sits at 12 S. Court St. between Outer Glow and Big Mama's Burritos. The music shop's owner Tony Santone recalled in the article the changing culture of buying music: "I can remember having midnight record releases and having hundreds of kids line up to buy the new release. I once had over 500 people line up on Court Street down to the bank just to buy the new Guns N' Roses album." How times change, eh?
