It takes 1-2 months for kombucha bacteria to ferment, expand and dry out, and the texture is similar to that of human skin. Koontz takes care of it and nurtures it, like a mother does her child. Then, Koontz takes photos wearing the dried kombucha and develops the prints in breast milk. Koontz asks: Can one have maternal relationship with ourself?
