"Judge Russo", a band born in Athens, returned to The Union last Thursday to perform together, alongside two other established bands. Judge Russo says when they get the opportunity to play together, it's like a reunion, since they don't all live in Athens anymore. Reporter, Erin Brogan was there to capture the show.

October 7th marks one year since the beginning of mass media coverage of the Israel-Hamas war, which sparked national movements. Ohio University Students for Justice in Palestine conducted a walkout today in front of Baker University Center to recognize the anniversary. SJP is hosting a "week of rage" to protest the war.

This past Saturday at Eclipse Company store, the community gathered to generate awareness and raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. The Walk to End Alzheimer's fund raises money for research and care for those living with the disease.

The "Brake for Breakfast" event takes place on the first Wednesday of October every year. This is the event's fourth year in Athens, and they've had major success. They offer a free breakfast, free informational packets about cancer and they even offer mammograms on site. The event draws hundreds of volunteers wanting to make a difference and nearly 1,000 cars drive through.

Homecoming weekend at Ohio University means the bars close at 2am and re-open at 5:30am Saturday morning. With these long hours, the bars have to do more prep than normal to accommodate the crowds and the long day. Reporters, Justine Spinelli and Bridley Wilkinson got the details.

The Richland Avenue Playground received a $20,000 Changing Lives Grant from the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association Foundation to renovate the playground. The project will replace broken equipment and install accessible, inclusive equipment. The project is underway and set to be completed in the fall of 2024.
