On Oct. 14, shock ran through the music world when it was announced neo-soul pioneer D’Angelo died at 51. The singer died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, which had left him hospitalized for months. Fans flocked to social media to send condolences to his family and grieve the death of a trailblazer whose legacy will forever be cemented within music.

Ohio (7-14, 5-4 Mid-American Conference) travels to Muncie, Indiana, to continue MAC play against Ball State (13-8, 9-0 MAC). Ohio is currently on a five-game win streak, a far cry from how it started the season. The Bobcats look completely different and have been able to close out games in these past five wins, which has been the difference maker for this team.

The NBA kicked off its 2025-26 season on Tuesday, and I’m thrilled that basketball is finally back. This league is overflowing with incredible talent among all 30 teams, and it feels as though a new champion will yet again be crowned. The Oklahoma City Thunder may be favored to repeat as champions, but don’t count out the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers or Denver Nuggets. There has not been a repeat NBA champion since 2018, and that should continue this season.

Eating, though a simple task we must do to survive, is a personal and sensitive concept for some. Everyone enjoys different foods, has different habits and relationships with food. With social media and societal standards, feeling comfortable commenting on others' food choices has become somewhat normal. Food has the potential to impact everyone’s mental health differently, and it's essential not to judge others' food habits.

Before the 2024 season, the NFL approved the use of Guardian Caps for in-game use. A Guardian Cap is a soft layer of padding worn over helmets to reduce concussions and head injuries. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Guardian Caps reduce concussions by 52%.

Students can visit their Degree Audit Reporting System report, which analyzes degree requirements, in their student center, and view which course credits they still need for their studies.

We’ve been debating politics for years, but now it happens as easily as a share, a post, a message or a repost to express opinions.

In 2017, one of the biggest campaigns in the NHL was “Hockey Is For Everyone.” This campaign was to promote inclusivity and diversity in the sport. While some positive results have come from this initiative, the NHL should be embarrassed by using this campaign while welcoming back players whose behaviors have resulted in direct harm to others.

Our weekly paper grants us the opportunity to highlight important local stories and reach audiences in a tactile and accessible way. Unfortunately, not all student media organizations hold that privilege, and by no fault of their own.

Football is an amazing game. Fans sit on their couch all weekend, ready to watch 48 hours of a game that so many fall in love with on the field, and for those who are lucky, their careers can extend past their time on the field. The love and respect for the game are no more evident with anyone than with first-year Ohio linebackers coach Chris Woods.
