The legendary New York emcee Nas has returned in 2020 with his 13th studio album, King’s Disease, which follows his last commercial project, NASIR, in 2018. Having cemented his legacy in the earliest years of his career with revered hip-hop classics Illmatic and It Was Written, along with solid projects overshadowed by those two scattered throughout his discography, Nas has put his recent efforts on cruise control.

Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Westside Gunn released his third studio album, Pray for Paris, on Griselda Records, an offshoot of Shady Records. A frequent collaborator with his brother Conway the Machine, who has connections with experimental hip hop producer The Alchemist and released an EP with him in March, Gunn has been steadily building credibility among New York hip hop revivalists and underground rap fans. On Pray for Paris, Gunn reels in many notable collaborators that are sure to pique the interest of rap enthusiasts including Benny the Butcher, Gunn’s cousin, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Tyler, the Creator, Joey Bada$$ and several others.

Over a year after the sudden and unfortunate passing of Malcolm James McCormick, also known as Mac Miller, the family of the late star has given Warner Records permission to release his final album, Circles. It’s his only posthumous album and rounds out a prolific career that consists of six major studio albums and multiple mixtapes. Circles is Miller’s fourth album to be released through Warner Records.

Gang Starr is the legendary Brooklyn hip-hop duo of the now-deceased MC Guru and influential producer aficionado DJ Premier. Guru passed away in 2010 but not before he recorded a wealth of verses that found its way onto One of the Best Yet, the first project released under the name since 2003.

Widely-known rapper Kanye West has finally dropped his ninth solo album, Jesus is King, after many delays, dating back to September of last year. West is an artist that needs no introduction, as he has cemented his name in both glory and infamy over the last 15 years. He is responsible for some of hip-hop’s best music of all time, while at the same time being an incendiary character that feuds with other artists, makes outlandish statements and incites controversy.
