I mean, of course this happened. Why wouldn’t it have happened? A draw or a win against a team with nothing to compete for to qualify for the World Cup. That’s all we needed. Hence why our doom was written in the stars. Slamming my laptop shut when the stream ended was the perfect way to end my hopes for the 2018 World Cup. But you know, it’s 2017 and nothing makes that much sense anymore, except for this. This is the most ‘of course’ thing to happen this year, and that’s ahead of the Browns naming their 28th starting QB since 1999.

Summer: lemonade, sunshine and absolutely terrible weather. The sun beats down on your neck as you walk down Court Street, and you begin to question whether you will actually melt by the time you get to your home. When the puddle that used to be you finally reaches your front door, you’re welcomed to an uncomfortably warm house in mid-July, and the only solution is to rest your head on the bag of peas that has been your freezer for months for no apparent reason other than this. (OK, this may have happened to me this summer, but I digress).

It’s a few days into the month, but October may as well be deemed national emo music month. Though the genre has become sort of an umbrella term in years past, we’ve put together a playlist of the genre’s staples new and old. So as the leaves turn and the weather grays, here are 31 songs for October.

The MTV Video Music Awards become more and more of a production each year. And this year started off with Kendrick Lamar making literal fire, and Katy Perry tried to tell everyone she was in outer space for a few months.

After years of experimentation, Tyler, The Creator flawlessly achieves the music he has been trying to get at for his entire career. While most of Tyler’s early music hasn’t stood the test of time, he finally blooms on what is arguably his most personal album yet — Flower Boy.

Though it was a slow week, a few musicians made some noise with new tracks this week while everyone waited around for Tyler, the Creator’s album drop on Friday.

Alright, I should just admit now that I am a huge Odd Future fan. Tyler, The Creator is releasing his latest album on July 21 and had released a trio of songs to tease Scum F--- Flower Boy, and, with those three songs, SFFB is already on my radar for album of the year. Of the three, “911/Mr. Lonely” is one of the smoothest Tyler songs released to date. As Tyler alludes to Beyonce’s Lemonade with Frank Ocean imitating a bird in the morning, the entire song is near perfection and arguably one of Tyler’s best to date. Plus, the music video he released for “Who Dat Boy” is solid too.

This past week has been less than stellar for many Americans. I keep trying to distract myself with Joe Biden memes in hopes of hiding my emotions and anger. But memes aren’t going to fix very much.
