Since June of 2020, Rural Action has started an initiative making it easy to share a meal with an Athens resident in need. Rural Action’s Neighbor Loaves & Meals project has donated over 1,400 loaves of spelt bread and 200 meals as of May 2021. With room for growth, local businesses have teamed up to do their part in this project.

Run Bailey’s will take place all day at Chauncey-Dover Community Park, 8389 W. Bailey Road, Millfield. The weekend will be full of events on the running trail. On Friday, there will be children’s races and an open 5K. Saturday there will be an open 15 mile and open five mile. Finally, on Sunday, there will be a women’s 10 mile and a women’s five mile. Pontoon Lake Tour starts at 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. at Burr Oak State Park, 10660 Burr Oak Lodge Road, Glouster. Naturalists will join participants on the pontoon boat and point out wildlife and share lake history. PRIDE Buttons will be handed out at the Athens Library, 30 Home St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will take place every day at the same time until June 30. Those who go are able to pick up a PRIDE button, choosing from various flags and pronouns.

“Perceive with Caution” A Kennedy Museum of Art Merging Concepts Exhibition from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. hosted by the Kennedy Museum of Art, 100 Ridges Circle. Visit the Kennedy Museum to see the student-developed, curated, designed and installed “Perceive with Caution” art exhibit. Yujia Wang, multimedia artist and recent OU graduate, has her own art exhibition on display at The Dairy Barn titled “In Search of Possibilities.” Wang wanted to create a show encompassing all she has learned art-wise at Ohio University, among other lessons from her time there.

A new paintball park made its grand opening in Glouster, between Hocking Hills and Athens near Burr Oak State Park. Featuring a multitude of different paintball attractions, Bigfoot Hollow Paintball Park, 11950 Black Road, is a place made for having fun and enjoying a competitive game of paintball.

Denim Day will take place Wednesday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. The day is hosted by Ohio University’s Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life and Survivor Advocacy Program, or SAP, and is a way to show support to survivors of sexual assault and violence.
