Ohio Volleyball has had a very nontraditional start to its season. The Bobcats season-opening match on Jan. 22 lasted a full 24 hours, due to a citywide power outage in Athens, Ohio. Then, Ohio’s series against Eastern Michigan was postponed because of COVID-19 related issues with the Eagles. Now, the Bobcats are looking for some normalcy as they travel to Akron on Thursday to take on the Zips over two days.
The players on the benches held their breath. The Bobcats and the Chippewas had volleyed back and forth for a minute straight during the second set of their second match on Saturday. After the Bobcats won the point, and the set, the energy was electric. That same energy propelled them to win out the rest of the match.
Ever since I was little, sports have been fascinating to me. The feeling of waking up the morning of a big game or match was one of exhilaration, even if I was just merely watching the game.
