October is LGBT History Month, a celebration of the achievements and long-time efforts of those who have been fighting tenaciously for equal rights. As time goes on and people educate themselves, the world is becoming increasingly accepting of the LGBTQIA+ community. A powerful step towards further acceptance would be to stop naming things after Ronald Reagan (and remove his name from existing landmarks while we’re at it).

Ever since Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to a close with “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, fans have wondered how the MCU could move on from something so epic. It has cast a fair amount of doubt towards projects that were to come with Phase Four and beyond, however, I think the MCU has been doing just fine.

Even if high temperatures indicate otherwise, it is widely accepted that summer officially commences as soon as school is out. Ohio University and Athens are no exception, and there is plenty to do for those who enjoy the outdoors. From mental health benefits to the importance of keeping the environment clean, there is more than what may meet the eye when spending time in nature.

In the hot summer, it’s normal to wish for a rain cloud to cool off. There’s also a certain calm feeling that comes with cuddling up by a window to watch raindrops fall and hear the thunder. While it sometimes rains on our parades, it can be nice for it to rain on a random Tuesday. Rain therapy is an underrated form of self-care that more people should participate in, and I’m here to tell you why.

A few days have passed but it feels more like the sun has gone down indefinitely. The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court is an extremely painful blow to anyone with a uterus. To sum it up, we are all tired of fighting for the basic human right to healthcare that is necessary for the survival of anyone who can get pregnant.

The desire for summer to arrive is something that a lot of people look forward to throughout the rest of the year. As soon as leaves start to turn orange and the air becomes more crisp we start to wish we could turn back time and relive the past few weeks of unwavering sunshine and sweating in the heat. Once winter hits, we use the promise of that same warmth as motivation to make it through the bitter cold.

Every June, millions of people celebrate Pride Month to honor friends, family and strangers that are part of the LGBTQ+ community. The choice to celebrate in June goes as far back as 1969 when the Stonewall riots took place at the Stonewall Inn of Greenwich Village in New York City. After that, marches to commemorate the anniversary of the riots took place across the U.S. They evolved and grew in participants until people celebrated their LGBTQ+ pride for the entire month of June every year.
