For those who may not know, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a 2004 sci-fi/romance film directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman, who won an Oscar for his work. The film follows Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet), a couple in a failing relationship who choose to undergo procedures to erase each other from their respective memories. It’s a highly emotional and thought-provoking film with an incredible score from Jon Brion and fantastic cinematography by Ellen Kuras. I would compare it’s concept to something out of the anthology series Black Mirror, so if you’re into that you’ll most likely enjoy Eternal Sunshine.

The fifth episode of What If…? follows Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) returning to Earth, just as he did at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War; except now the planet’s populated by zombified versions of his closest allies and friends. What follows is something the MCU has never tackled before now, a full-on horror show with all the expected genre trimmings of gore, blood and death, lots of death.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings follows Shaun (Simu Liu), an Asian American man working as a valet with his best friend, Katy (Awkwafina), neither of whom are fulfilling their potential. Following an assassination attempt, Shaun embarks on a globetrotting journey to find his long-lost sister, Xialing (Meng’er Zhang,) and bring the ring-wielding terrorist who sought his death to justice: his estranged father, Mandarin (Tony Leung).

The fourth entry of Marvel Studios’ What If…? anthology follows what would happen if Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) lost the love of his life instead of the use of his hands in his fateful car accident. What follows is a cacophony of emotion, death, sacrifice and, of course, a few magical spells.

The third episode of What If…? follows a huge week in Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) life. What was originally a week of Avengers recruitment has turned into a week from hell; with all the original Avengers being continuously hunted and targeted by an unknown serial killer and other threats on the horizon.

The second episode of What If…? follows a timeline in which a young T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) was taken by the Ravagers instead of Peter Quill. This leads T’Challa to eventually take on the same moniker as Peter, becoming Star-Lord and changing his Marvel universe mightily as he goes along.

The first episode of What If…? follows what would happen if Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) received the super soldier serum in World War II instead of Steve Rogers (Josh Keaton). Even though Rogers doesn’t get the serum, he’s made relevant by being placed in a sort of proto-Iron Man suit called the Hydra Stomper created by Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper). The series is hosted by The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright), who sees the many possibilities of the multiverse and presents them to the audience.

The Suicide Squad follows a miscellaneous bunch of DC’s most popular villains, like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and a majority of its more ridiculous and mostly forgotten ones, like Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian) and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior). These villains come toe-to-toe with South American warlords, strange extraterrestrial threats and, at times, each other.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is the long-awaited big screen return of both the franchise and the Looney Tunes themselves. This time, the story revolves around NBA superstar LeBron James trying to get his son back from Al G. Rhythm (Don Cheadle), the ruler of Warner Bros. Serververse. The Serververse is a digital universe filled with many famous Warner Bros. legacy characters such as Superman, Scooby-Doo and Severus Snape, just to name a few.

Loki’s finale picks up right where episode five left off, with Loki and Sylvie approaching the castle at the end of time, seeking whoever is behind the TVA and the sacred timeline. Meanwhile, Mobius and B-15 are back at the TVA headquarters looking to overthrow Judge Renslayer and burn the TVA to the ground.

Marvel’s long-awaited return to theaters finally arrives in the form of Black Widow. Taking place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow bridges the gap for what Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) was up to during her years on the run. Her mission takes her from Ohio to Budapest and Russia, where her former family unit is introduced: her sister Yelena (Florence Pugh), her father Alexei (David Harbour) and her mother Melina (Rachel Weisz).

Loki’s fifth episode picks up immediately where the last left off, with Loki being approached by four different variants of himself in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. From there, they have to work together to find a way out of wherever it is they are and, perhaps more importantly, find a way to survive a ginormous, all-devouring cloud monster. Meanwhile, Sylvie is forced into an uneasy alliance with Judge Renslayer and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) to find out who’s really behind the TVA and the Timekeepers.

The second half of Loki starts out with a bang, quite literally. Loki and Sylvie sit on Lamentis-1, presumably minutes after the ending of episode three, awaiting the entire planet’s and their demises. Meanwhile, Mobius and Judge Renslayer are trying to figure out where the variants are. They also seem to have cleaned up Sylvie’s timeline mess in between appearances. When Loki creates a disturbance in the timeline, the TVA swoop in and jumpstart the plot back up.

Fast and Furious 9 picks up a few years after The Fate of the Furious with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) in a state of semi-retirement with their son. They’re quickly pulled back into the world of action and espionage following a visit from Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel). In their first mission back, Dom and his family discover his long lost brother, Jakob (John Cena), is working for their enemy. After that, everything quickly devolves into a global, explosive cat and mouse chase chock full of new and returning faces.

Loki’s third outing begins right where his last left off, with The Variant, now known as Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) walking through a reality-shifting door with the series titular character not far behind. They confront each other in the TVA before being cornered by Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) forcing them to fall through another reality-shifting door to avoid a certain doom. It’s from there that they both find themselves fighting for survival and each other on a moon on a collision course with another planet, Lamentis-1.

This is quite possibly the most plot and exposition-heavy episode of any Marvel series to date. Because of this, it could be easy for the pacing of Loki to slow down considerably; somehow, that’s not the case at all.

At its core, In the Heights is a story about family and the love shared within, regardless if they share the same blood. A bodega owner, a cab director, a valedictorian, a salon worker and a retired maid have nothing in common on the surface, but they all share and cultivate the same community, bonds and culture. Together they push each other further over the boundaries set for them by society; that is the story being told here.

Loki is Marvel Studio’s most creative and unique project so far. The show picks up immediately after Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) escape with the tesseract during the New York City portion of the time heist in Avengers: Endgame. After that, he’s picked up and booked for crimes against the timeline from the Time Variance Authority (or TVA). The TVA essentially functions as time cops, arresting or killing those who deviate from the timeline curated and controlled by the Time-Keepers, the gods of time in the MCU. From there, he meets Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) who recruits him to take on a dangerous timeline-altering foe.

Bo Burnham hasn’t released a comedy special since 2016’s Make Happy. Within five years, he directed and wrote a critically acclaimed film (Eighth Grade), acted in several films and directed a couple stand-up specials for Jerrod Carmichael and Chris Rock. Those stand-up specials, also including Make Happy, are the most visually striking I’ve ever seen. Inside fits alongside those specials visually, being one the most beautiful and well-shot pieces of art in recent memory, and outside of that, is completely unique and one-of-a-kind.
