Athens is a progressive force for environmentalism. The solar panels at the Athens Community Center, recently revamped public bus service, strong local food culture and finely maintained bike paths are testaments to our civic pride and our eco-awareness.
Although I totally love video games, there are two other types of games that I love a lot, too: board games and card games. Sure, they might not be as exciting as the fast-paced, newest video game releases that are design marvels, but there is no way you can go wrong with a classic.
I love my school. Baker Center is always a blossoming beacon of student activity every day. Court Street bricks have witnessed some of my most memorable times as a Bobcat. I even appreciate Chubb Hall and the woman who always snarls at me when I argue that a debit card should not face that ridiculous surcharge every time I pay my student bill (if you happen to be this lady, allow me to get you a Chipotle burrito or flowers or something because this rivalry is four-years strong now).
Man on the Street: What does it mean for you to be at Ohio University, and why did you decide to come to Athens?Nov. 10, 2013

For a better part of the last decade I have been sheepishly on the defensive at most times in the off chance that some raging maniac who lurks in dark alleys at night will finally succeed in his goal of murdering me. I do not know anyone, nor has anyone personally relayed such a story to me; however it seems like a truly rational thing to fear in my mind. There are, however, several legitimate threats that I simply disregard as outlandish and downright absurd. As a teen, growing up in the cold, hard suburbs of Pittsburgh, there was one risky behavior in particular that I feel was a serious threat to my life: pimple popping.
When people first began making movies, it was an art, a newfound way to interpret emotion through pictures and motion. The industry was predominantly women who told stories and directed, but at the time there was not much output because not many people would pay to see such films. It was more of an attraction that a few people would make for audience enjoyment. Eventually the industry began to grow because of the potential revenue films could make.
Two weeks out from the release of Catching Fire, the second of four installments in the Hunger Games cinematic saga, I have to make a confession: I have no idea what’s going to happen.
Let’s face it; there’s no better place to be in the autumn than Ohio University. Seeing the leaves change and walking to class in the crisp autumn air, I’ve been getting into the sweater-weather spirit a lot lately. Because I’m so excited, I want to share my autumn/winter beauty favorites with you. There’s almost nothing better than new, seasonal, beauty products... at least for me.
Outside of the Division of Student Affairs, the upper levels of the Ohio University administration are lacking in both availability and transparency.
It’s hard to believe that one of America’s favorite comfort foods is the closest relative to a dinosaur.
There are very few things I am good at. None of them are important skills to have, either.
Columbus Blue Jackets fans rejoiced Saturday night when it was announced by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that the 2015 All-Star Weekend would be held at the Blue Jackets’ home Nationwide Arena.
I have officially decided the one thing I don’t like about being a video game addict: the expense.
A few months back, I was a reformed addict.
As of late, I have been hearing more and more about something that sounds fascinating, yet I had no idea what it actually was. Replicating everyday objects, perhaps on a large scale, seems like something that could keep me occupied for hours on end. I am referring to 3D printing.
Feeding the world in a sustainable way is a challenge. Organic agriculture is often put forth as a solution to environmental ills. According to the Pesticide Action Network, “In 1940, we produced 2.3 food calories for every one fossil fuel calorie used… we now get one food calorie for every 10 fossil fuel calories used.” Using fewer petroleum-based fertilizers and pesticides, as organic agriculture would require, would clearly be a step in the right direction.
Television has definitely evolved throughout the past couple of years, and it continues to keep changing.
