Hope for Humanity: Twitter accounts solicit sexualized pics while ignoring consent, individual rights
Feb. 11, 2014“When you see dat ass on campus, sneak a picture and snapchat it to us,” tweeted Bobcat Ass (@OUGotAss) early Monday morning. On a mission “to find the best ass on campus,” Bobcat Ass operates much like other unofficial Ohio University Twitter accounts such as @BoBcAtAsS, @BoobsAtOU and @OUBobcatBOOBS — you send a picture of a woman’s assets, preferably in OU gear, and the account managers post it anonymously.
Party Lines: Bipartisanship in 2014 will be key for Democrats, GOP in 2016
Feb. 11, 2014President Barack Obama visited my home state of Michigan last week to do something I haven’t seen him do in a while: sign into law a significant bill that wasn’t related to a self-inflicted crisis, like the budget impasse of 2013, and was passed by a Democratic-controlled Senate and a Republican-controlled House.
Beyond the Books: Sometimes backing out on commitments is a healthier choice
Feb. 11, 2014Some days, you just want to be more than one person.

Feb. 10, 2014Happy Winter Olympics! This week, I’m trading in my video games to keep my eyes glued to the events in Sochi.
College Matt-ers: Athletics spending is not the best use of student dollars

From the Sports Desk: Olympic fans, athletes risk safety in Sochi
Feb. 8, 2014Typically, the Olympics are a time of joy and pride when athletes and fans come together to compete and cheer for their native countries on the international stage. Joy and pride however, are not the first emotions that come to mind when thinking about the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, which started competition last week.
Beauty and the Bobcat: Skin care is crucial in harsh winter weather
Feb. 5, 2014Gentle products are preferable to heavy-duty ones, which will further irritate your skin.
Hope for Humanity: Turnout for event signals inspiring step forward
Feb. 4, 2014This week has been a hard one for those of us tuned into rape culture in the media. Between the astonishing number of Twitter users who felt that “rape” was an apt word to describe the Broncos’ Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks and the army of Woody Allen apologists calling Dylan Farrow a liar for writing about childhood abuse, there was barely any time to register the story coming to light about the University of Akron discouraging students from filing sexual assault reports.
Party Lines: Clinton v. Christie: Whose scandal is worse?
Feb. 4, 2014If Hillary Clinton could overcome an arguably poor image after the Benghazi scandal that plagued the last few months of her Secretary of State tenure, can New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie move past the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal?
Beyond the Books: Cherish college's odd and fleeting moments
Feb. 3, 2014I’ve always been interested in knowing the things nobody tells you — or at least, the things not many people tell you. I hate feeling like I’ve missed a vital piece of advice that could have made something a lot easier, less stressful and frankly, just more enjoyable.
Gamer Girl: Winning 'Flappy Bird' is hard, quitting it is harder
Feb. 3, 2014I was planning on writing something really great this week, but then I got addicted to Flappy Bird.
Between the Lines: Twitter response to Coke's 'America' ad is baffling
Feb. 3, 2014The multilingual song prompted #SpeakAmerican to trend on Twitter.
