A man was arrested Monday and charged with drugging three women's drinks at an Athens bar.
The Athens County Prosecutor's Office has accused Robert Neal II, a 21-year-old Athens resident, of putting a white powder in three women's shots on the evening of Feb. 1., according to a prosecutor's office news release.
The prosecutor's office has charged Neal with two counts of corrupting another with drugs, both second-degree felonies. He is being held at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on $500,000 bond.
A second-degree felony conviction comes with a maximum prison sentence of 2-8 years and a maximum fine of $15,000.
The news release does not name the bar, but states, "local liquor establishments were very cooperative" during the investigation.
Neal is a former Ohio University student. OU spokesman Dan Pittman would not say when Neal's enrollment ended, citing privacy rights.
The investigation is ongoing and the prosecutor's office expects additional charges to follow, according to the release.
