OU turned 214 years old Sunday

Ohio University is celebrating its 214th birthday as the first institution of higher learning established in the Northwest Territory.

To celebrate the occasion, the Cutler Hall chimes played “Alma Mater Ohio” at 2:14 p.m. Sunday.

A “Women of OHIO” exhibit will be displayed on the 5th floor of Alden Library, which marks the 150th anniversary of OU's first female student, Margaret Boyd.

Other student groups will be hosting an OHIO Birthday Bash at Baker Center on Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

Students and alumni are also showing their appreciation for OU on Twitter.
