22537,2007-11-27 00:00:00,Scripps director withdraws from Nevada position,",The director of Ohio University's journalism school withdrew his name from consideration today as a finalist for dean of the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada-Reno.
As I have stated previously, my heart is at Ohio University and I also feel my work is not yet finished here, said Tom Hodson director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism
in a written statement.
Hodson was one of two finalists interviewed for the dean's position at the Nevada school. He had consulted previously for the university's National Center on Courts and Media
and said he hopes to continue working with that institution.
Ohio University pays Hodson a $99
328 base salary
according to OU's salary book
last updated Nov. 14
2006. The University of Nevada-Reno had not made an offer before he withdrew his name.
Scripps College of Communication Dean Gregory Shepherd asked Hodson to remain as director of the school
and Hodson indicated that his decision to withdraw from consideration in Nevada was influenced by that.
With the recent groundswell of support I have received from faculty, administrators, and students, I feel privileged to remain director of the E.W. Scripps School and to help lead it to even greater prominence in the coming years, he wrote.
