The Ohio University Student Activities Committee has distributed more than $40,000 to student organizations for Spring Quarter events.
Student groups requested a total of $108,359.79. SAC funded them with $42,432.80, according the finalized list of funding.
SAC, part of Student Senate, allocates money to student organizations based on proposals submitted by the groups outlining events that each group plans to coordinate, said SAC Commissioner Isaac Higgins.
Events also are prioritized during the funding process, said Carina Siracusa, SAC graduate associate. Higher priority is given to events that benefit students educationally, socially and culturally, she said.
The amount of money distributed to the groups also reflects the amount SAC has available to distribute. Student Senate sets the SAC budget from its own funds, which are allocated by the OU Board of Trustees, Siracusa said.
