The Ohio University African Studies program received a three-year grant totaling $1.6 million from the U.S. Department of Education.
The grant designates OU as a National Resource Center in African Studies, which is a university that has programs that promote international education in the United States, said Catherine Cutcher, OU assistant director of African Studies. Its main goal is to continue outreach and education that expand the knowledge of Africa to K-12 students, businesses, the media and the general public across the state of Ohio and surrounding regions.
