I love homecoming at Ohio University. Sitting with my fiancee's family watching the parade, seeing the creative floats from the Greeks, listening to the 110 and alumni band, and seeing the joyous and uplifting Passion Works color explosion. Then I see a group of gloomy and menacing guys with guns. Enter the 2nd Amendment club.
I try to be a nice guy and stay out of the Conceal and Carry law because my mom and her boyfriend are gun advocates. Plus, I am trained in firearms with Boy Scouts and won an NRA marksmanship competition in high school. But I feel that I must speak out.
First, I totally agree that we need guns for collecting and hunting. Do we need AK-47s and other weapons of mass destruction? We don't need them to protect us from a tyrannical government, because most of the members of the 2nd Amendment Club are Republicans and support tyrannical governments such as the one we're currently experiencing. We do need protection from the people with guns saying we need protection.
One of the club's founders attacked an opponent in The Post a few weeks back saying he didn't state any facts when he didn't give any himself. Well, here are some non-refutable facts.
If guns made us safer, the United States would be the safest country in the world. With 88 guns for every 100 Americans, the U.S. leads the world in domestic arms ownership. However, we lead the world in deaths by firearms.
