Ohio University Student Senators adopted a resolution last night encouraging a university-wide grade cap to ensure more equitable grading from professors.
The current grading system has no set percentages to correspond with letter grades, said Annie Marsico, senator for the College of Arts and Sciences. She said the main concern is for classes that offer multiple sections, because one professor could have an A range set from 90 to 100 percent, and another professor could make an A 97 percent or above.
We'd like something to be done
because we've had lots of complaints about this she said.
The resolution sponsored by Marsico proposed setting percentage caps.
In the proposal, the highest grade possible for an A minus would be 93 percent.
The resolution, which senators hoped would prevent some subjectivity in grading by professors, was adopted unanimously.
