Ohio soccer player Tiffany Horvath was named the Mid-American Conference

Freshman-of-the-Year last Thursday, becoming the first Ohio player to win the honor

since Mindy Boggs in 1997. The Strongsville native netted eight goals and dished out

five assists in her rookie campaign, in addition to scoring three game-winners on the year.

Even though their brilliant winning streak ended at six games in the MAC

tournament semifinals, the Bobcats have continued to bring home the hardware.

Midfielder Kendra Hornschemeier was named to the All-MAC first team. She led

the team with eight assists for the season and also had three goals. Hornschemeier is the

school's all-time leader in assists.

Forward Christel Schiering earned All-MAC second team honors for the third

straight season. She capped her brilliant Bobcat career with 11 goals and four assists for

the season. Schiering's 46 goals sit atop the record books as the best in school history.

Freshman Horvath was named to the All-MAC second team and the All-MAC

freshman team. Joining Horvath on the All-MAC freshman team was Larissa Najjar, who

played in 19 of 20 games on the season and was crucial in the Bobcats six shutouts.

Field Hockey earns postseason honors

Three players for Ohio's field hockey team were named to the All-Tournament

team after leading the team to the MAC tournament finals. Amanda Freeman was named

to the team for the second time, while Liz Holtzman and Kara Webster were first-time

honorees.

Freeman and Holtzman also earned All-MAC honors for the season, as they were

both named to the All-MAC first team. This is FreemanÕs second appearance on the All-

MAC team. She was named to the second team last season.

Lindsay Rothenberger garnered All-MAC second team honors. She was the team

leader in assists with eight.
