The Ohio University Presidential Search and Screening Committee named national search firm A.T. Kearney to assist in the university's search for a new president. OU President Robert Glidden, 66, announced his retirement in September, which will be effective June 30, 2004.
At Thursday's meeting in Columbus, the committee met with Shelly Weiss Storbeck, managing director and vice president of A.T. Kearney Education Practice. The cost for the search firm has not been set yet, said Alan Geiger, secretary to the Board of Trustees, but A.T. Kearney is preparing a contract.
A.T. Kearney of Alexandria, Va., has recently helped in presidential searches at the University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, Bates College and Colby College.
The committee and A.T. Kearney are working to produce a list of criteria for potential candidates and also to create a timeline for future meetings, procedure and issuing decisions. The goal is to announce the 20th president by April 2004.
Student representatives from the committee will be hosting an open forum for students to discuss the search. The meeting will be in the 1954 Lounge of Baker Center tonight from 7:30 to 9.
