The Asian lady beetles invaded The Convo like the Marshall volleyball team wished they had.
The Ohio volleyball team squashed Marshall in three games last night, 30-20, 30-18, 30-16 as if the Thundering Herd (16-13 overall, 6-6 Mid-American Conference) were little bugs. Marshall coach Mitch Jacobs said the Bobcats (22-3, 12-0 MAC) are clearly the best team in the conference.
No pun intended
but I think our team was bugging Jacobs said. We were just overwhelmed tonight. I'm on the top 25 committee and I voted them in the top 10.
While Jacobs' vote might not be enough to get the Bobcats an AVCA/USA Today Top 25 ranking, the team's 20-match win streak puts Ohio among the best. It is the fourth best in the country and ties for second in the list of the longest streaks in Mid-American Conference history.
The win against Marshall is the second this season, with the Bobcats also winning in three games Sept. 26.
Ohio coach Geoff Carlston said he loved the way the team played, especially how it finished the match strong.
I liked our tempo
I liked our energy
I liked our defense and our attitude
Carlston said. I liked the pace at which we played and how we responded when they got points.
The Bobcats used their offensive power to go on several runs -
we can do anything up there
Smith said. As long as Briana (Adamovsky) can open it up for us
we have splits
and we have holes and it's just going to be a fun game.
The Bobcats hit the road this weekend, playing Friday in Buffalo and Saturday at Akron. Both matches are at 7 p.m.
