Ohio University professor Suzanne Hatty was cleared of all criminal charges against her on December 3 in an Australian courtroom.
Hatty was arrested in October 2001 on charges of perverting the course of justice for her connection with a robbery of nearly $1800 in February 1998. Shortly after the crime, while driving with then-boyfriend Stuart Burke, she told police that money in the car had been withdrawn from her bank account.
While waiting for the case to go to court, Hatty continued teaching at OU in the College of Osteopathic Medicine's department of social medicine.
Hatty spent the beginning of this winter break in Australia for her court case, where she was cleared of all charges after pleading not guilty.
Hatty is on medical leave for Winter Quarter, said Cheri McFee, administrative assistant to the department of social medicine.
She's been acquitted of the charges and the matter is complete
said OU-COM Dean Jack Brose. He said Hatty requested the time off a few weeks before the quarter began and will be back in the spring.
UPDATE: This story was corrected on March 1, 2004. The Post incorrectly stated part of the outcome of Hatty- 17
