In the past century, students at Ohio University have seen wars, flooding and riots. But they also have pledged in fraternities and sororities, competed in athletic competitions and attended some of the largest parties in this part of the country.
This special issue of The Post is devoted to alumni memories of OU. Past students have remembered social activities (always drinking and dancing), sports teams (sometimes winning) and world events (which inevitably reach Athens).
Most alumni shared warm memories of pleasant times at OU, such as the legendary parties of Springfest and Palmerfest or dancing at Hotel Berry. But they also reflected on times of national crisis, when OU students stepped out of Athens to work, fight or mourn with the rest of the world - in the Great Depression, World War II or Sept. 11, 2001.
The decades profiled here range from the threadbare thirties to this new millennium. Read on to find out how OU has changed during the past 70 years.
