Several Ohio seniors ended their home collegiate swimming careers this weekend with nine combined individual wins as the Ohio women's swim team defeated Marshall, 169-103, and the men's team fell to Miami, 138-105.
On the women's side, Athens native Courtney Kostival placed second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.30 and fourth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:13.51.
I have grown up here. This is my 16th year swimming at this pool
Kostival said. That will be the hardest part about leaving.
Courtney Gould placed first in the 1000 freestyle (10:28.86) and second in the 100 (54.07).
Gould said she had mixed feelings about her last home meet.
I was anxious to have the last meet and dreading it at the same time she said.
Gould teamed up with Shannon Kelly, Heather Rennebohm and Kristen Baldinger to win the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:02.94.
We were in a tough phase coming into the meet Ohio coach Greg Werner said. We have a lot of people who are a little ill or coming off an illness. It was great to see good results.
On the men's side, Jason Folt won the 100 freestyle in 48.17 and placed fifth in the 200 (1:47.90).
Eric Flecher posted a 48.29 in the 100 freestyle and a 1:44.84 in the 200, placing second in both events.

he said. It is different to think of it being my last meet.
Diver Robert Krichbaum swept the diving events with a score of 301.50 in the 1- meter event and 304.05 in the 3-meter.
Werner was impressed with how the senior men led the team even though they lost the meet.
They showed tremendous leadership
he said.
The Ohio men's team wraps up its regular season against Ball State at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 in Muncie, Ind.
The women's team faces Miami at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. in Oxford.
