Theft ring lands Ohio teacher in prison for 10 years

LANCASTER - A teacher accused of masterminding a theft ring involving high school students has pleaded guilty to his role in the thefts, which led to the arrests of six others, including another teacher.

John Dolby, 35, of Lancaster, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to operating an organized theft ring, among other theft counts.

Authorities accused the former teacher at the Fairfield County Career Center of organizing a theft ring that stole an estimated $120,000 worth of construction equipment, electronics, laptop computers and kitchen appliances from the building site of the new Pickerington North High School and new homes in the area.

On Friday, another teacher at the career center, 33-year-old Jerica Nicholas, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Nicholas was released Saturday after posting a $10,000 bond, Fairfield County Jail Officer Murica Geiger said.

Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said seven people have been arrested in the case
