Long live the vulva! Today marks the first day of Viva La Vulva Week, organized by the Feminist Coalition and sponsored by the Student Activities Commission. The week features a series of workshops and discussions about various aspects of the female anatomy.
Representatives from Down There Health Collective, based in Washington, D.C., will host talks today and Tuesday about do-it-yourself gynecology and safe spaces for women and transgender persons. Wednesday features Friday Goldman, a sex worker from Cleveland, speaking on talking dirty and how to have good sex, said Fem-Co member Monica Ganguly.
She described Goldman as very sex-positive and also knowledgeable of post-feminist theory. Each session this year covers topics different from previous years, and the final session is designated as open time. Ganguly said it will provide an opportunity for anyone to come and further discuss anything that might have been talked about throughout the week.
Saturday closes the week with a reading of The Vagina Monologues in Baker University Center's The Front Room.
