Students at Ohio University are neck-and-neck with the top three schools in Recycle Mania: Miami University, Dartmouth College and Villanova University.
We are doing a lot better than last year - which is part of the point
I guess - but we could do a lot better. I wish we could do a lot better because we aren't very far behind Villanova and Dartmouth and I'd really like to catch up with Miami. They spend a little more money on their recycling
but I'd really like to show them up
said Ed Newman, recycling and refuse manager at OU.
The competition is in week six, and OU is trailing Villanova by 1.88 pounds, Dartmouth by 4.19 pounds and Miami by 6.84 pounds.
Newman said students who are not already recycling need to do their part, even if they decide to recycle only one material.
There are 17
168 students on campus; if they all did a little bit we could probably beat Miami. With everyone leaving during finals week
and cleaning things out
they could really help out with their materials
he said.
