Accuracy is not a problem for Latreece Bagley. She is proving this throughout her career with the Bobcats.
The forward from Dayton leads the Mid-American Conference in field goal percentage, standing at 59.6 percent (121-of-203) heading into Tuesday's game at Buffalo.
Ohio coach Lynn Bria said Bagley makes a big impact for the Bobcats.
I'm a big believer that games are won or lost in the paint
Bria said. She's going to draw another defender and that opens shots for our perimeter players.
Bagley has been on fire the last five games, shooting 75 percent from the field, making 22 of 29 shots.
Most of my shots are lay-ups so I'm pretty sure I should be making them
Bagley said. It's all about finishing my shots.
Bagley set an Ohio record last season shooting 62.9 percent for the season. Her sophomore campaign was also successful as she shot 53.3 percent.
Bagley credited her teammates for her success.
My teammates help me a lot
getting the ball into the post
Bagley said. Once you get it in
I can get it out if I get doubled. Sometimes they pass it back
and I can get the open shot.
Going For Lucky 13
One more win will give the Bobcats 13 wins on the season. A 13th win would tie the most the Bobcats have won under Bria, who is in her fifth season as Ohio head coach.
Bria said she likes the strides the program is making.
We've taken some steps in the right direction
she said. To get to that (13 wins) would be great. I think we're playing well right now.
Bria established the career-best 13-win season in 2001-2002. That team lost to Kent State in the MAC quarterfinals in Cleveland. She has compiled a record of 130-176 at Ohio.
Balanced Bobcats
The Bobcats have boasted balanced offense this season. Seven different players have led the team in scoring.
It's hard for opponents to guard
Bria said. They can't focus in on just Latreece Bagley. You've got to guard all of them. It's a positive thing because it's difficult for our opponents to focus in on one player.
Four different players have led or tied for the lead in scoring the past three games. Ohio also has had 19 double-digit scorers in the previous five games.
