During yesterday's Athens County Commissioners meeting, the commissioners agreed to pay $750 for the cremation of Louis Principe. Principe passed away on March 8, 2004 at the Sunset Motel, and no one has claimed him. His deceased wife's ashes are buried in Morgantown, W. Va. The $750 will pay for his cremation and transportation to the cemetery.
In other news: Athens Township Trustees Chairman Dick Shaw requested that the width of Athens Township Road 403 be established at 40 feet in order to maintain the road. The commissioners approved it.
County Engineer Mike Canberry brought two bid openings to the meeting yesterday for asphalt chip and seal material. Asphalt Materials bid at $0.65 per gallon, but Marathon Nation outbid it with $0.6494 per gallon. The price includes delivering the materials.
