Ohio diving coach Rob Bitner was fired late last month, head Ohio swimming and diving coach Greg Werner said.
Certain parts of the job description were not met
Werner said when asked the reasons for the dismissal.
Bitner was diving coach under Werner for seven years. He coached two divers to Mid-American Conference championships including Robert Krichbaum in the previous three seasons. No female divers have won a MAC championship under Bitner.
We greatly appreciate Rob's commitment over the last seven years and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors Werner said.
A search for new candidates has been ongoing, and resumes of potential candidates will be collected until Saturday. Werner, who is the chair of the search committee, said a new coach will be selected by July 1.
We want someone who will establish a competitive and stimulating environment for the student-athletes and push them to their full potential Werner said.
