Baseball begins non-conference set

The Ohio baseball team is coming off possibly its most heart-breaking series of the season, dropping two of three games to Ball State this past weekend.

Now the Bobcats have nearly two weeks to endure before they get another chance at a conference game.

This afternoon, Ohio (20-26 overall, 10-11 Mid-American Conference) travels to Dayton to play in the first of six consecutive non-conference games.

But despite the abundance of non-conference match-ups this late in the season, coach Joe Carbone said his team will not approach the games any differently.

Everything's the same

he said. Prepare for the team. Get yourself organized. Go out and play. So there's nothing different. Everything's the same.

And despite next weekend being the first weekend since April that Ohio has not faced a conference foe, Carbone is not looking for his team to feel any less pressure than it would in a conference series.

Pressure is what you put on yourself he said. So whatever that is

you have to play with poise. You can't play uptight. You have to go out there and play hard... I don't want them to relax. You're not going to relax because it's a non-conference game. It's still a baseball game. I mean

I want them to play relaxed. But I want them to play with intensity and hustle and play hard.
