Infielder earns award

Infielder Jared Willis received a $2,000 Gatorade scholarship after receiving the 2003 George W. Rulon American Legion Player of the Year Award.

He also received a $1,000 scholarship for being named the Mid-Atlantic Region 2 Player of the Year.

Willis was named the top prospect by Collegiate Baseball magazine in May 2002.

He hit .421 with four home runs and drove in 37 runs during his senior year of high school.

This year he is hitting .237 with 14 hits and 9 RBIs in 27 games for Ohio.

It is a big deal Carbone said. It's given on a merit of good citizenship
