During the next three weeks, waves of incoming freshmen and their parents will arrive in Athens for the two-day Precollege program and their first real exposure to life at Ohio University.
While the program is much the same as in recent years, a number of changes have been made, both substantively and cosmetically, in an effort to prepare students more thoroughly for college life.
During an introductory meeting Monday, Dean of Students Terry Hogan announced to the first group of freshmen and their parents that all incoming students are now required to complete the AlcoholEdu for College program, formerly used only by OU Judiciaries. AlcoholEdu is an online program that takes about two hours to complete.
We see it as a preventative measure
Hogan said. This is a way to assure up front that folks have a baseline of information that's going to help them make better judgments this fall.
